Alex Matraxia is an award-winning filmmaker, writer, and photographer. They've directed commercial work for clients including Balmain, 10 Magazine, and Sadlers Wells. Their short film Afterparty was commissioned by BBC New Creatives and premiered in BFI Flare 2023, and their film Dream Factory, produced under the Roundhouse Film Fund, premiered in LSFF 2024. In the past, they’ve been shortlisted for the Sundance Writer’s Lab and the BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Competition. Their super-8 film Brief Encounter premiered in Cannes as a finalist of the Straight-8 Film Competition. They were also the recipient of Future Creatives Writing Prize in 2020, their work published in the Future Creatives anthology, Tomorrow. They are currently based in London.
