Alex Matraxia is a London-based filmmaker, photographer, writer and critic. Their visual work examines queer identity and its relationship with memory, myth and urban space. Their work has been featured in the LA Indie Short Film Festival, The Crypt Gallery, Vogue, The Bricklane Gallery and The Archives Gallery. They are currently a member of the BFI Network x BAFTA Crew. Commercially they have acted as director and editor for clients including Balmain, 10 Magazine, and the BBC. Their new short Afterparty will be screened later this year, commissioned by the ICA New Creatives Scheme. Additionally their writing has previously appeared in The Oxford Review of Books, Sentinel Literary Quarterly, and they're the recipient of the Platinum Prize for the Future Creatives Writing Award; their writing is featured in the Future Creatives publication Tomorrow (2020).
